ABOUT

אודות

The annual exhibition of the artists of the Benjamin Gallery this year deals with nature, and the way in which the gallery's artists
Perceive it. In recent years, man's perception of nature has undergone many contrasting turns.
In 2000, chemist Paul Crutzen coined the term "Anthropocene" to denote a contemporary geological period characterized by human influence on everything previously considered natural. In this way, one could think that in the race between the natural and the artificial, humans won. In those years, a new concept began to flourish, the "climate crisis," and some argue that it poses a real threat to the continued existence of humanity.
This giant battle between man and nature is present in the works of the gallery's artists in different ways: some are fascinated by nature, the wild and the animalistic; others see a parallel aesthetic precisely in the artificial connections created by man. For some, the natural bursts into the image, while for others, the control of man almost succeeds in making it disappear. From the placement of the images
By juxtaposing the various aspects side by side, a broad picture emerges of dealing with one of the biggest questions
that are placed before humanity
This exhibition does not resolve that battle of the giants, and perhaps even suggests a third answer. In Meir Ariel's poem "What's New in Science," the poet mentioned that: "According to natural science, man is included in nature. And if man is included in nature, all his actions are included. It follows that according to science, man's actions are natural, and even the fruit of man's actions is natural, in all its details."
