Irit Barel Basan lives and creates in Israel. She is a graduate of the Department of Art at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (2005).

Her works explore questions of meaning and value, as well as examining interpersonal or object-based relationships. Her creative process involves deconstructing a subject or image and reassembling it with various mediums. The exploration of materials and the attempt to give them a personal identity is a fascinating challenge for her. Formally, her works feature recurring motifs such as imprinting, flattening, arbitrariness, ornamentation, density, and a play between amorphous and realistic shapes.
