“First Step” is a formative moment for the baby learning to walk. It is hesitant yet full of courage, trembling but still filled with promise. It is a moment in which a new horizon opens, where every small step carries within it a whole world of possibilities. So it is also for young artists: the first step into the field of art is an opportunity for experimentation, discovery, and the beginning of defining one’s unique voice. The exhibition seeks to be a supportive space in which such a step is possible, a first stage that allows the illumination of the singular moment of beginning.
Binyamin Gallery invites art school graduates to participate in a group exhibition dedicated to the formative moment that comes after completing studies, and entering the world of art. This is a stage that still carries the excitement, curiosity, and optimism of new beginnings, before the field imposes its constraints and limitations.
The exhibition seeks to present works that express the experience of transition: from the safety of studio and studies to the public sphere, from the BFA degree to reality, from the hopeful and innocent belief in the artistic practice to the challenges of art as a profession.
