Michal Tamir (born 1976) is an Israeli artist working in painting and drawing, based in Tel Aviv.
Tamir holds an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. She studied in the master class of the Jerusalem Studio School for Drawing and Painting and in the master class of Hatachana School. She holds a B.Design from the Department of Visual Communication at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
Michal Tamir’s artistic practice focuses on the body, memory, and the emotional structures that shape family life. Her recent work functions as a kind of visual graphic novel: scenes from her life serve as points of departure for works that illuminate personal moments, from which a universal presence emerges. Private moments are transformed into experiences that resonate beyond the family narrative. She reconstructs figures according to self-defined rules, working quickly and with intensity in order to convey emotional frequency immediately. Her work is created in large formats, using acrylic and industrial paints on canvas or paper
