ABOUT

אודות

"Too Close," the duo exhibition by Itamar Hammerman and Yael Oren, deals with death through two opposing and complementary prisms. Oren deals with three relatives who have passed away over the years. Her father, who was killed in a light plane crash, her sister, Ruthie, who was close to her in age and physicality, and died prematurely at the age of 38, and her mother, who also died of cancer. In her paintings, Oren deals with themes of loss, mourning, memory, love, and the celebration of life.

In Hammerman's work, "Banshee," the artist created the figure of the Irish mythological creature from foil - known as a harbinger of approaching death. The figure that Hammerman sculpted corresponds with the time in which we live, when death surrounds us all. It laments the death that surrounds us and at the same time points to the inevitable continuation of the regional bloodshed.

From near to far, from personal to collective, Oren and Herman's works remind us that death is a central part of life.
