The exhibition Revolution situates itself at the point in time of "after humanity" — a kind of new world rising from the ruins of the current one, beginning a process of new evolution that still carries our DNA within it.
The concept of evolution refers to development: a gradual process of change that has an origin, and always remains somehow faithful to that origin. The word revolution, by contrast, signifies a break from the source — processes that occur in a revolutionary, violent, and rapid manner.
The works presented in the exhibition seek to disconnect from their artistic origins and attempt to find a new language, new materials, and a fresh perspective. Eight young artists present imagery that touches on the world of biology and the origins of life — imagery that is expressed through an urban materiality undergoing mutation, broken DNA, and distorted organic forms.
The encounter between the worlds of science and art creates surprising and fascinating connections. Like science, art also measures and examines the environment. It often speaks in the language of science about processes, experiments, research, and themes, but in fact, it is challenged by the task of creating a language within an expanding universe of images.
It seems that the attempt to understand the origin of life and our own evolution stems from the human need to discover where we are heading — and thus to ease the existential anxiety that lies within the unknown and beyond our control.
