The three dimensional installation spreading along three walls of the Binyamin gallery is an attempt to represent a hybrid world that merges, with invisible stitches, between the "architecture of the digital cloud" and the real world. The structure is inspired by the geometric structure of the 2D barcode used to provide quick access to web sites. Tamar Sheaffer refers to an almost infinite space of sites, servers, routers and data which she translates into an urban-moon landscape, encompassing a deceptive interchange between the actual reality and the virtual domain. The exhibition talks about the layered and multi-dimensional world that is a key characteristic of technologically developed societies. It also addresses the plurality of times and sites that we concurrently inhabit while blurring the boundaries between the different domains.
Sheaffer uses low-tech technique – whitewashed plywood, pencil and graphite powder – to say something about the intersection between the present physical subject and the hovering, immaterial cloud.
