ABOUT

The exhibition Fluid Matter explores the relationships between artist, place, and space as they manifest within the ruins of an abandoned structure, which has gradually decayed over the years, leaving only its outer walls intact.

As part of the exhibition, artists Shani Yosef and Noga Rozman present works in photography, video, installation, and organic sculpture.

A structure that serves as a shelter for the homeless, covered in layers of graffiti, street art, debris, and dirt, becomes a creative canvas for the artists. Located in the heart of a nature reserve, the structure disrupts the landscape, introducing an unexpected urban presence. The juxtaposition of this urban ruin within the natural environment establishes a new visual dynamic, prompting visitors to perceive the landscape differently.

The works in the exhibition incorporate raw materials collected from the site, transformed into architectural structures and organic objects displayed in the gallery. These pieces embody the artists' physical struggle to grasp onto the crumbling and abandoned building—a struggle destined for failure, which forms the central axis of the exhibition. This effort represents a persistent and determined attempt to become part of the space, to merge into it like patches of color against the gray concrete, while simultaneously acknowledging the inevitable futility of this endeavor.
