ABOUT

The epic poem "The Knight in the Panther’s Skin," written by Shota Rustaveli in the 12th Century, inspired artists to develop the concept of leopard spots. Previously exhibited at Cube Gallery, the pair delved deeply into the poem, and discovered its fascinating, bold, secular, and feminist aspects, . and contains a collection of small stories that exemplify  wise and humane female rulers, possessing spiritual beauty and wholeness.

The poem has a distinct political dimension and a socialist approach. Its  heroines establish an internal order and remove from the land all injustice and denial of rights realizing the ideals of liberty and equality. This contemporary reading led the artists to spin a fictional continuation of the story and create objects and video clips functioning as archaeological evidence.

Through disassembly, removal, reassembly, and new interpretation, they construct a shared imaginary space from which they extract aesthetic values to create a parallel universe. The gallery space comes to life, animated with digital tools—video projections that trace tempera paintings and transform the gallery walls into a tangible arena of action, addressing the violence and horrors of October 7th.

In this world, violence cannot be ignored, as its presence penetrates even the most protected spaces. Closer to the exhibition opening, as the work came together, it acquired an additional layer. This layer seeks to touch upon the pure love that accompanies the poem —a love that transcends the material world and everyday perception.
