ABOUT
אודות
According to tradition, Kardil is a demon who rebelled against the chief demon, Abilis, and arrived in the human world. There, contrary to the norms of the demonic realm, he spoke to men and women directly, honestly, openly, and with inspiration. Despite his appearance and origins, he is a positive, supportive, and beloved figure.
Kardil, both as a mythical character and as an exhibition, points to what lies beyond the visible and simultaneously to what is concealed. A new generation of Israeli Arab women artists is claiming a presence beyond stereotypes, fears, and contempt—demanding that the same respect they hold for their tradition and society be granted to them as women and artists in a dynamic contemporary world.
This exhibition presents the works of four young graduates of the “Midrasha” School of Art, showcasing new bodies of work that combine painting and photography.
