ABOUT

אודות

Rani Pardes, a 2003 graduate of HaMidrasha School of Art, presents his second solo exhibition at Binyamin Gallery, following participation in numerous group exhibitions. Pardes’s work engages with themes that are built from one another and born into one another, forming a continuous cycle. His pieces merge the high and the low, the pleasant and the repulsive. His recent works deepen his engagement with imagery of dark, hellish creatures.

A recurring motif in Pardes’s work is the skull, which in recent years has taken on a new, design-oriented significance—appearing as a trendy print on clothing, objects, and decorative items. Once a symbol of death, the skull has become smiling and stylized. Pardes seeks to return it to the realm of imagery from which it originated—but in an almost absurd, ironic manner. His creations appear as hybrids of ultimate evil and fear, standing before us not to threaten, but to amuse and adorn.

The exhibition includes paintings, ready-mades, and assemblages.
