ABOUT

Hypernormalization is a concept that describes a state in which we live within a fabricated version of reality—a hyper-reality that erases the relationship between representation and the represented subject, leaving truth as a hollow, unrecognizable expression. The works in this exhibition engage with questions regarding the relationship between the artist and the hypernormal existence.
In his film HyperNormalisation (2016), Adam Curtis explores how we arrived at this condition. The film examines the past 40 years, during which politicians, capitalists, and ‘technological utopians’ have avoided confronting the world’s complexities. Instead, they have presented a simplified version of reality to maintain their power. Even those who believe they are resisting the system—radicals, musicians, artists, and countercultural figures—become part of the very mechanism they seek to challenge, ultimately blending into this world of illusion.
This exhibition examines how art engages with hypernormalization and explores the boundaries of the territory in which the phenomenon’s implications for artistic creation are tested. How does hypernormalization influence contemporary art? To what extent can art, created by individuals deeply embedded in the hypernormal world, challenge or transcend its limits?
