ABOUT

Nati Hoki and Tom Ariel respond to photographs by colleagues and former mentors, creating a collaborative photograph that encapsulates an ongoing process of performative events within the gallery space.

Nati Hoki and Tom Ariel have been working as an artistic duo since their student years. For this exhibition, they invited participating artists—colleagues and former mentors—to engage with texts addressing issues of belonging and control and to capture a single analog photograph using a large-format camera provided to them.

During the exhibition, Hoki and Ariel will respond to these photographs by constructing a set within the gallery space, a process culminating in a single photograph of the completed set, taken with the same camera. Performative events will take place during the gallery’s opening hours, allowing visitors to witness the process of set construction and photography. The full scope of the project will only be revealed at the conclusion of the exhibition when all the photographs produced throughout the project will be displayed to the public.

Hoki and Ariel appropriate the images created at their request and, through a strategy of discourse and deconstruction, produce their response as a performative act in front of a live audience. Through the set-building process, they deconstruct and reconstruct the original image, engaging with themes of mutual influence and individuality.

### **During the exhibition, performative events will be open to visitors during the gallery’s operating hours.**
