The exhibition Disturbed Landscape presents a selection of works that address disruptions within the landscape. These disturbances serve as a kind of urban intervention in nature—or, conversely, as the presence of nature within an urban environment.
Some of the works are presented as pastoral landscapes, only to be unexpectedly interrupted by an element that doesn’t belong—something out of place that breaks the harmony. The presence of a man-made or urban object within the natural setting creates a new visual order and prompts the viewer to see the landscape from a different perspective.
The existence of such a disruption challenges the built-in harmony and symmetry in our perception of the landscape as a unified whole.
