The exhibition seeks to present alternative perspectives on our close–yet–distant neighbors. The works in the exhibition address the topic from various angles, ranging from direct engagement with the figure of Assad to associative references to Syria. The artists chose different strategies to approach the subject: clichés and stereotypes, concern and empathy, protest and disdain, humor and sarcasm, fear and anxiety.

The techniques include painting, sculpture, installation, graffiti, photography, and collage. The result aims to present the subject from unconventional viewpoints, to highlight the distorted contexts in which more is hidden than revealed, and above all—to shake the prevailing sense of banality.
