ABOUT

אודות

The exhibition Aerial Roots presents a unique photographic process that combines three generations of one family, using a 1950 Kodak Retina C2 camera. Through the lens of her father's historic camera - the first Sabra in the family - the artist explores the tension between personal and national narratives, and the changes in the perception of Israeli identity throughout the generations.

Hassid's previous work focused on working with different communities, this time turns her gaze inward to her own family. Using film footage from the past year, shot with the same historic camera, she creates a rich dialogue between the past and the present, between images of masculinity in the 1950s and the view of the family's young people today towards the future.

The exhibition transforms the family archive into a platform for discussion about belonging and continuity in a time of uncertainty. The exhibition's title is drawn from the plant world, but here becomes a metaphor for the way personal and collective identity develops and changes over time.
